In Pakistan, where economic disparities persist, the scourge of poverty continues to impact millions. The statistics are sobering: recent reports suggest that approximately 24.3% of the population in Pakistan lives below the poverty line (World Bank, 2023). The need to address this dire situation has never been more urgent.
At Dunya Foundation, education stands as the beacon of hope, a powerful catalyst capable of breaking the cycle of poverty and transforming lives. For over 35 years, our organization has been unwavering in its commitment to enhancing access to quality education, supporting skill development, and uplifting the underprivileged sections of society.
The significance of education, particularly in the context of poverty, is profound. It equips individuals with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to overcome challenges, thus breaking the cycle of poverty. It provides pathways to once unattainable opportunities, empowering communities to chart a more promising future.
One of our core initiatives at Dunya Foundation is our scholarship programs, a flagship endeavor empowering deserving students with the educational support they need. Annually, more than 1700 scholarships and fee concessions are awarded to deserving students across various academic levels, representing an investment of PKR 4.7 million per year. This financial aid is pivotal in ensuring that students from all backgrounds have access to quality education.
Our partnership with nine educational institutions further amplifies our impact, enabling us to support 251 students in 2023 who pursued higher education, thereby nurturing the talents of tomorrow’s leaders. These collaborations strengthen our reach and effectively contribute to building a more inclusive and empowered society.
