CONTRIBUTING TO A BETTER TOMORROW
Kasur Mawakhat Program: Community Development Initiative
Kasur Mawakhat Program (KMP) is a transformative initiative by Dunya Foundation in collaboration with Akhuwat Foundation, dedicated to uplifting rural communities and fostering sustainable change. Launched in 2014 in Dhala Kalan, Kasur, KMP spans ten villages, touching the lives of approximately 3,600 households.
At Dunya Foundation, we embrace the transformative power of community development, a principle vividly exemplified by our Kasur Mawakhat Program. Our strategic approach involves robust communication, fostering connections, active involvement, and a meticulously crafted plan tailored to meet the unique needs of the community.
KMP dedicates itself to uplifting farmers through education and interest-free loans. This initiative ensures sustainable agricultural production, leading to substantial crop yield increases. Families can now prioritize essential aspects like healthcare, education, and reinvesting in their farms. The program facilitates access to disease-resistant seeds, promotes efficient irrigation, and enhances market accessibility.
In response to a 59% literacy rate in Pakistan, Dunya Foundation commits to providing free education to children from 18 villages surrounding our project areas in rural Kasur. Going beyond academics, the project supplies course books, stationery, and uniforms, emphasizing holistic development for over 1000 students.
KMP actively addresses the challenge of healthcare access in rural Pakistan. With a focus on health promotion, prevention, and curative care, the program caters to the specific needs of the community, particularly emphasizing the health of the elderly, women, and children. Sanitation and hygiene awareness campaigns are integral components of our health initiatives.
Tackling unemployment head-on, KMP prioritizes skill development. On-site and off-site vocational training programs equip participants with skills such as stitching, nursing, and basic computer training. To support these newfound skills, interest-free loans are provided to help participants establish their businesses.
